Unmissable Music in Manchester This Summer
Of all the allure possessed by our great city, the superlative live music culture is top of the list for many. To those who call Greater Manchester home - a great deal of pride emanates from the variety and scale of events which take place 365 days a year.
At no point during the year are the streets more alive with music than during the summer months. Each year, hordes of fans descend on the city for all manner of events; big and small, loud and quiet – there’s something for everyone. For the purposes of this post however, let’s focus on the big and loud.
Courteeners – Emirates Old Trafford – May 27th
Few could think of a more apt way to kick start a jam-packed summer of music in Manchester than hometown heroes’ Courteeners largest ever show in the city, right?
Joining them on the day are adopted Madchester veterans The Charlatans, Stockport’s most recent chart topping export Blossoms and Tameside upstarts Cabbage.

Parklife Festival – Heaton Park – June 10th & June 11th
Not many inner-city festivals can boast as high a level of variety as Manchester’s Parklife. Consuming Heaton Park in the north of the city on the weekend of June 10th and 11th, the event will host a range of national and international talent.
With a bill featuring The 1975, Frank Ocean, A Tribe Called Quest, Two Door Cinema Club, Stormzy, Fatboy Slim, Ratboy, Mura Masa, Armand Van Helden and so, so much more – Parklife needs to be a contender for your summers schedule.
Sounds of the City – Castlefield Bowl – Multiple Dates
A concert series making a return to Manchester following several successful seasons, Sounds of the City is once more set to take over Castlefield Bowl midsummer 2017.
For anyone who’s yet to attend a concert in this unique and serene setting, it’s a must. The schedule is as follows:
